English 11 Honours Photo Gallery
On September 29th 2017, the English 11 Honours students went to Gastown and Chinatown.
Their task: to see Vancouver through new eyes and record their surroundings using as many sensory details as possible. They explored the more historical parts of downtown on a quintessentially rainy day in Vancouver. They will use their "field study notes" to write an original poem about their city.

Found in Translation: Independent Novel Study
Over the month of January, students read translated novels of their choice and completed a project on them. We concluded the unit with presentations and an international potluck. Each student brought food from the country that their novel was written in. Sadly, Ms. Shin could not partake in eating any of the food as she was on the Whole30 diet! :'(
UBC Museum of Anthropology - Framing Narratives Workshop
On Thursday April 5th, our class went to the UBC Museum of Anthropology. We had lunch in the longhouse and went on a guided tour of the First Nations artifacts and artwork. We attended the Framing Narratives workshop, lead by the lovely and knowledgeable Laurie. She was impressed by the keen, mature attitude of the English 11 Honours students and intelligent questions that our class came up with. Students learned the historical and cultural significance of totem pole, bent wooden chests and basketry. They also had the chance to view more contemporary art, like Bill Reid's famous raven sculpture and painted panels inspired by Japanese manga.
