Block C and D: Medieval Scriptorium Goals: 1. Decide on the 5 rules of Benedict 2. Choose a story 3. Outline chosen story on a plot graph. Identify key characters, protagonist and antagonist. 4. Condense your story into 5 main events. Humanities 8 Rules of Benedict. (1) Speak respectfully to one another (2) Prior/Prioress leads prayer before starting scriptorium work. (3) There is to be 25 minutes of SILENT work time. (4) Each member must take ownership over their own work - no social loafing. There should be commitment to quality. (5) Openness to others' ideas. 1. Students did their first round of short snappers - 30 second speeches.
2. Students studied and analyzed essay structure, namely introductory paragraphs and thesis statements. 3. We looked at options for a persuasive speech topic: 1. Current Events
We read an article about air pollution in China and filled out the sheet on 5 Ws. 2. We read "Joy-Riding" individually and wrote/drew about our joy-riding. 1. We looked for parts of speech in the "Cindy R." short story.
2. In groups of 2-3, students filled out Mad Libs. - We compared the two creation stories in Genesis, specifically, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2+3.
- We started our "Genesis News" assignment. - We finished the modifier activity from the previous class.
- We read "The Transformation of Cindy R" and answered the first four questions (#1.a, b, c and d). "c" will be marked. HW: Finish graphic organizer comparing Cinderella and Transformation of Cindy R. |
